Rain Rain, Go Away
Photo of the Day for July 3, 2008
Almost every day for about the past week-and-a-half to two weeks, we have been getting tropical-like thunder-and-lightning storms in the mid-to-late afternoon hours, one of which hit yesterday and dumped the highest volume of rain in the shortest amount of time I have ever witnessed. The street in front of the house looked like a Category 5 whitewater rapid, and the water was running off the roof so fast that the gutters couldn’t keep up. Thus, the rain was spilling over them and cascading down the front of the house. Standing in the bay window was like looking out from behind a waterfall.
