Electricity

Photo of the Day for February 6, 2009

It's Electric

On the way to and from Zan and Jayna’s daycare, the road passes under some high-tension lines, and now that I’m suddenly paying attention to things because I’m always on the lookout for some kind of semi-worthwhile photo, I noticed this tree the past couple of times I drove by it … and kept meaning to take a picture of it.

Today, I drove by it on the way to drop Zan off at daycare, and told myself I’d take a picture of it on the way back. Then, because I have the attention span of a flea, I forgot all about that plan and drove by it again going in the other direction—BUT!—I sucked it up, banged a U-turn and drove back.

Worth the effort? Hmmm. Maybe not … but I like: a.) the way the tree twisted itself away from the power lines to the point that it grew sideways; b.) the way the sun reflects off the snow and gives the limbs some cool under-lighting; and c.) the way the naked branches, set against the high-tension lines, look like big bursts of electricity.

Hey, look, if you did the drive back and forth to daycare as many times as I have, you’d start hallucinating too. Humor me.

I like the tree also. 1 thing though; tree most likely didn’t grow like that, the city cut the tree to grow like that.
