Pet gargoyle

Wonder Woman bought this for me years and years and years ago, when we were dating. It has sat on every desk in every home office I’ve had since then—which means it has survived five relocations, including our pilgrimage from Arizona back to Boston.

I’ve always liked gothic decor—as evidenced by my own personal collection of goth items, which comprises nothing other than this single gargoyle, but anyway—and I remember thinking that having a gargoyle on my desk would help create the kind of ambient environment that, for me, aids the creative process of channeling thoughts into writing. Which also explains why I installed a dimmer on the lightswitch in my office and have decided to leave in place indefinitely the string of white Christmas lights strung up above my desk.
