Oh, goody: summer's over.

Farewell, summer. *sniff*

So that’s it. Summer officially ends today.

Wonder Woman and I lived in Arizona for a few years, and by the time we moved back to the Boston area in 2000, I was beyond psyched to once again live in a place that had four seasons. It took nine years, but that novelty has officially worn off.

To hell with four seasons (unless we’re talking about the luxury hotel chain, in which case: I love you, Four Seasons! Now, how ’bout comping me a room at one of your tropical locations?). I don’t want four seasons; I want an endless summer.

When I look at the photo above, I am overcome with dread. Snow and cold and ice and darkness at 4 o’clock in the afternoon and lots and lots of time indoors and an endless series of illnesses brought home from school and daycare … I weep. Weep, I tell you.

You know what I want for Christmas? I want that dude who was Michael Jackson’s doctor to come over to my place and put me on a Diprivan IV drip from January 2nd through June 1st … you know, provided he does a better job of it this time.

    Hey Baby Boy,
No need for extremes, you and your family are very welcome to stay at our home for the winter months. W live south of Phoenix in Gilbert , Arizona. We live on 5 & 1/2 acres of glory. The kids are gone and you could have the whole place to yourselves, minus us. I love to cook and serve and the pool and surrounding areas are yours to have. Just let me know when you will be arriving. We’ll meet you at Phoenix Sky Harbor! Let the fun begin!

That’s so funny because now that I live in Hawai’i I really wish that I had four seasons to look forward to – espeically Fall’s cool breezes.

–>We rarely get snow and when we do, it’s minimal but everything is shut down. Last year on inauguration day, I was home because schools were canceled and we got exactly zero accumulation. I would personally like to fast forward from Jan 4 when college football ends to mid-March.

We moved from Phoenix to Colorado at about ten years ago. Today I actually had to turn the heat on!! Although it’s supposed to get back to 80 by the weekend. *fingers crossed!*

As much as I dislike the cold, I have to say that Colorado is MUCH milder than Minnesota where I was raised, now that is Winter!! I love Minnesota, I love Colorado more!

Ugh, I dread Winter so much it’s hard to enjoy the beauty of Fall!

We live in Wisconsin, and love it. I can’t not have the fall colors and the white snow and the Spring flowers…. I’d miss it to much. I could however, do without the mud season. Early Spring and late Fall/ early Winter. W/ 3 kids and 2 dogs, the inside of the house looks alot like the outside.

I have to say, having lived in either Georgia or South Carolina my entire life, I find “seasons” to be highly overrated. I’m fine with just having 3 of them. We actually got some snow last year that STUCK to the GROUND (whoa…) and accumulated up to a whopping 5 inches or so, and while it was lovely to watch from the window, it was annoying and cold to be out and about it. So yeah, I think I’ll stay in the sunny south and enjoy your winter photos.

Time to get those kids some cross-country skiing lessons!! Try winter in Finland–dark by 3 p.m., not light till about 9 or 10 a.m. And this is southern Finland–northern is just DARK. This goes on for nearly SIX MONTHS….no wonder there’s a higher level of vodka consumption going on there…..

Living in Vancouver, we usually get more rain then anything, but last winter mirrored an east coast weinter (well minus the severe temperature drop). We had over 4 feet of snow at one point and the temperature was consitently around 0. Is it wrong I want that again this year? Anything then all of that rain.

I’m bipolar when it comes to winter. I always look forward to the cooler weather–and especially now that perimenopause has elevated my body temp to about eleventy-seven ALL THE DAMN TIME, I think I will enjoy it even more.

However. Here in Chicago, which some believe should not have been settled but should rather have been kept as a scientific cold weather outpost, winters last forever.

Chicago has two seasons, you know: winter and construction. Which would you prefer?

Oh for Christ’s sake, I love people that Pine away for Summer. The first day they aren’t on a cool beach or God forbid, the AC unit shits the bed, they piss and moan like you can’t imagine. Man the fuck up and enjoy the fall and make plans for the winter sports. IMHO winter rules!

Minnesotans also joke about the two seasons (winter and construction), but I wouldn’t have it any other way. For me, there is palpable excitement whenever the weather starts to change! Winter can be long and painful, but I absolutely love the beauty of new fallen snow!
